Marble is reintroduced into art; but within the realms of photography, not statuary. The works within the series create a dialogue with historic marble works, that were once considered to be high art, using such an expensive and lavish material to create sculpture. The ordinary imagery and the rarity of the material of have an interconnectedness and interchangeability, creating a duality. Metamorphism means a change of forms. Marble is a rock that results from the metamorphism of sedimentary carbonate rocks. This process causes variable recrystallization of the original mineral grains, resulting in marble’s vein look and coloration of different interlocking patterns.
